The collection is comprised of materials from the Jewish Community Center and various agencies within the Jewish Federation which heads the J.C.C. The materials include documents relating to community centers that predate the J.C.C. such as the Communal Building and the Kirsbaum Center. The bulk of the materials focus on the 1950s through the 1960s.

The Jewish Community Center in Indianapolis began in 1904 as the Nathan Morris House on the south side of Indianapolis where it was a center for social and educational activities for newcomers to the Jewish community.
